Morgans Hotel – Swansea, South Wales

Morgans Hotel is a luxurious boutique hotel located in the centre of Swansea, South Wales just a stone’s throw away from the beautiful maritime quarter & the brand new Swansea Arena. Just a short drive away is the picturesque village of Mumbles & award-winning Gower coastline. Boasting 42 individual bedrooms – Morgans hotel is an irresistible venue in the heart of Swansea.

Morgans Hotel opened to great acclaim in 2002, following a nine month refurbishment of the Grade 2* listed building, which originally housed the Associated British Ports Authority, and is steeped in maritime history. It was originally built in 1902 and re-opened as Morgans 100 years later. All the rooms are named after ships that were registered or built in Swansea in the last century, a time when intrepid sailors ventured accross the world to exotic and remote places such as Valparaiso in Chile, Newfoundland and South America, and many sailers became Cape Horners in their quest for trade around the world. Morgans is a privately owned boutique hotel, with twenty bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms and a restaurant. Morgans Bar, is a relaxing area with leather sofas which by day has become THE place to sit and have a leisurely coffee and read the day’s papers. Bar snacks are served all day, and afternoon teas featuring Welsh Cakes and scones provide a welcome break after city centre shopping or bracing walks along the beach or around the city maritime quarter. Alternatively, if you prefer a more up-beat location, The Champagne Bar with its clean lines, modern architectural glass and bespoke champagne tables is the place to sit and sip your champagne and watch the world from it’s mezzanine floor.

The Morgans Hotel has been described as being unashamedly modern whilst still paying homage to its past, and a walk around this beautiful building will endorse this remark. From the beautiful original staircase with the cuppola housing historical stained glass depicting points of the compass, to the sleek lines of the bedrooms Morgans Hotel has lavished care and attention to ensure that a guest’s every need is catered for.

The Dunraven Hotel is a family run pub at the top of the world famous Rhondda Valley in South Wales, where a warm Welsh welcome will always await you. The pub dates back to the late 19th Century where we believe that it may have been a court house prior to its conversion into pub.

The Dunraven Hotel is situated at the foot of Penpych mountain, which is one of only two flat topped spur mountains in Europe which is ideal for walkers and mountain bikers alike. The Rhondda Valley is world famous for its coal mining, with its coal being deemed the best in the world. Unfortunately long gone are the days of mining and all that remains is a museum dedicated to the history of the area which is approximately 8 miles away from the Dunraven Hotel. We are delighted to be encapsulated by mountains which is a haven for walker, bikers and wildlife. Treherbert is situated in the centre of a triangle between Cardiff, Swansea and Brecon so it makes an ideal base to explore the best that wales has to offer from the vibrancy of Cardiff city centre, the coasts of Swansea and the charm of the Brecon Beacons which are all not much further than 30 mins away. We have easy access to local transport which caters for routes into the city centre and other destinations, making travelling from our hotel hassle free.

The Hotel Portmeirion is a 4 star luxury hotel overlooking the sandy beaches of the Dwyryd Estuary in the beautiful Snowdonia area of North Wales. In 1925, Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis acquired the site which was to become Portmeirion.

He had been searching for a suitable site for his proposed ideal village for several years and when he heard that the Aber Iâ estate near Penrhyndeudraeth was for sale, he did not hesitate to make an offer. The hotel has 14 stylish bedrooms, some with lift access, a fine-dining restaurant, a bar and terrace and several relaxing lounges. Clough Williams-Ellis opened The Hotel Portmeirion at Easter, 1926 as the focal point for his proposed ideal village.  He retained much of the Victorian interior including an intricate Italian fireplace, the grand Mirror Room, the library carvings from the Great Exhibition of 1851 and a grand eighteenth-century oak staircase.  The bar and dining room were re-styled by Sir Terrence Conran in 2005 to recreate the atmosphere of Clough’s art deco walnut panelled rooms.  The Hotel Portmeirion maintains a high standard of cuisine and excellent service in a magical setting. The Hotel has an open air swimming pool on the estuary lawn, open 10am to 5pm daily to 28th September.
