South Wales Aviation Museum

The South Wales Aviation Museum (SWAM) is the perfect day out for all the family, we have something for everyone! Come and take a look at our range of aircraft exhibits and exhibition rooms at the South Wales Aviation Museum in St Athan, Vale of Glamorgan.

The South Wales Aviation Museum encourages a hands on experience and some of our cockpits are open for you to climb into. Our volunteers come from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.  They are all very friendly and knowledgeable and are more than happy to answer any questions you have. In addition to the aircraft and exhibition rooms, we also have a fantastic Cafe upstairs called “The Hangar Round”. The cafe’s menu ranges from sandwiches and toasties to our well know Dakota breakfast! At SWAM we’re committed to investing our expertise and resources in order to encourage the next generation into aviation and engineering. Our museum is run by volunteers who generously give up their time to make it the amazing success it is, they come from a range of backgrounds and everyone contributes something valuable and unique.  Some come in during the week to work on the ongoing restoration projects both on the aircraft and on the building!  Others prefer to come and engage with the public during the opening hours at weekends.  Whatever your preference, come and have a chat, we are a friendly and welcoming bunch! We have a wide age range of volunteers from retired individuals who are an invaluable fountain of knowledge to older teenagers (16 plus) who are interested in aviation. Our amazing team are passionate about making a difference in their local community. If you would like to get involved with the museum please get in touch with us, we can guarantee a very warm welcome.
